A handful of graphic design schools in New York also happen to be some of the best graphic design schools in the nation and world according to U.S. News and World Report and Business Insider. The schools listed below all made US News and World Report’s 2012 national list of top graphic design grad schools. If that weren’t enough, Business Insider included them in its 2012 rankings of the best design schools.

School of Visual Arts -- Ranked #9 by U.S. News; #12 by Business Insider: Located in the heart of Manhattan, the School of Visual Arts (SVA) has been helping educate aspiring artists since 1947. The school’s faculty comprises more than 1,000 working professionals who teach a diverse range of art and design courses. Graphic design and related programs are available at the undergraduate and graduate level. SVA also offers special programs like its International Exchange Program and Pre-College Program.

Parsons The New School for Design -- Ranked #10 by U.S. News; #5 by Business Insider: Founded in 1896 in New York City, Parsons is divided into five design schools. Graphic design disciplines are located within the School of Art, Media, and Technology. Prospective students can pursue programs like an Associate of Arts and Sciences in Graphic Design, a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Communication Design, and a Master of Fine Arts in Design and Technology. Some programs are even offered online.

Pratt Institute -- Ranked #12 by U.S. News; #6 by Business Insider: Pratt Institute’s art education heritage began in 1887, when it held its first drawing classes. The Brooklyn-based art school has grown substantially since then, and now offers a variety of degree and certificate options, including graphic design programs at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Students in the Master of Fine Arts program can gain international exposure by taking courses at the Danish Institute for Study Abroad.
